Pastor Bryan is calling our church to pray and fast from January 8-February 5
Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice & untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free & break every yoke?" Isaiah 58:6
Pastor Bryan is calling our church to pray and fast from January 8-February 5. A fast is simply a designated time where you stop certain normal activity & replace it with prayer for a designated purpose.
What is the purpose? What do I pray for?
For individuals at our church to:
- Understand & receive God's vision for our church as Pastor Bryan shares it.
- Find place of service.
- Be equipped to do outreach, presenting Jesus in word, action and in power.
How can I participate?
1. Pick at least 1 day over the next 30 to fast.
One suggestion would be to not eat breakfast or lunch & replace that time with prayer for our church, ending your fast that day with dinner. If going without food for that long is not possible, then consider modifying your diet to something healthy.
2. Exchange one habit for a good one
Throughout the 30 days, replace some other daily regular activity with prayer, worship, journaling or reading. The absence of that activity will remind you that our church is in prayer. Some ideas are: texting, Facebook, internet, books or music (non-christian), television, video games.
3. Do a "modified" fast the entire 30 days
You could also consider giving up some aspect of your regular diet (soft drinks, junk food, meat) and replacing it with healthy foods (water, fruit, vegetables). Together, let's begin 2012 with our eyes on Christ fully expecting to see a display of His love, glory and power through us!
“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” Luke 4:18
